Chris Rose is an internationally acclaimed wildlife artist who specialises in painting birds. His pictures, mainly in oils or acrylics, are as much studies of light, colours and patterns in the landscape as they are depictions of wildlife. He has a particular fascination for water and many of his wildlife paintings feature aquatic or marine subjects. He always works from life, developing his bird paintings in the studio from sketches and paintings made in the field, usually around his home in the Scottish Borders

He is an active member of the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA), based in London, and currently serves on the SWLA council. In addition to exhibiting in the SWLA annual show, Chris has exhibited widely throughout the UK and has had several one-man exhibitions at the Wildlife Art Gallery in Suffolk. He has also had work selected for the leading wildlife art show at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Wisconsin, North America and has had work shown in France, Singapore and Japan

Chris is also one of the leading bird illustrators in the UK and has illustrated many books

My desire to paint wildlife, particularly birds, stems from a deep fascination and respect for the natural world and a wish to share my excitement for the subject through my paintings. I am inspired by the light, colours, textures and patterns which are found in nature, even in the most ordinary and often overlooked corners of the landscape
