Returning home
As I sat sketching these gentoo penguins on the sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia, I became aware that I was in the middle of a penguin highway. On one side of me walked penguins heading to the sea to fish, while on the other, walking in the opposite direction, were those returning 'home' with crops full of krill and fish to feed to their young. None seemed to pay me the slightest attention, in common with most Antarctic wildlife.
