Abernethy
This crested tit was painted in Abernethy Forest, a remnant of the once vast Caledonian pine forests that covered much of the Scottish Highlands. These ancient woods have a timeless quality. The branches drip with lichens and mosses, and the sounds of deer, woodpecker and capercaillie ring through the trees. The crested tit, in the UK found exclusively in these Scots pine forests, is a quintessentially Scottish bird and appears on the logo of the Scottish Ornithologists Club. Original painted in acrylics on board.
