Whitmuir loch – wigeon

Whitmuir loch is a quiet, little-visited loch near my home in the Scottish Borders. In winter it holds small numbers of wildfowl including whooper swans, teal, tufted duck, goldeneye and wigeon – their frequent whistling call a constant reminder of their presence.

This painting was painted mostly in situ, and then completed later in the studio.
